Hiking has been one of the biggest aspects of Camp Ridgecrest since it opened in 1929. Campers get to experience nature by hiking different trails in the beautiful Blue Ridge Mountains. While always scenic, these hikes can sometimes be challenging as well. This picture was found in a 1950 camper newspaper, depicting one of these exhilarating hikes to Mount Mitchell.
