Spilman Expands
Posted by phil
We have broken ground on the new addition to Spilman Lodge! (Click on the picture to the right to see what it will look like.) We are excited about a 24’x18′ expansion going onto the Choctaw Arapaho side of the Dining Hall. This new room will give us more dining space which will be crucial with the addition of a few new cabins. There will also be an 11′ cover front porch that will stretch the length of the building. The porch will be covered with a green metal roof, with traditional log spindals used for the railings. This front porch will be wide enough for additional rocking chairs for campers to hang out and enjoy their free time! With a little help from a local architect, we believe that this addition to Spilman will be a definite improvement that we can all be proud of. This project should be compete within the month, so check back often to see pictures!

Looks sweet!
Yes, the drawings help give you an idea of what it will look like …I think the finished product will be a great addition. We are trying to do everything possible to preserve the look of Spilman as a historic building!
Very nice, I need to get over there sometime and look at the progress!
What will it look like as far as tables for the kids? Will the sides still be divided the same as always. Also, is Ron helping build this? I figured that he worked on most of Spilman by himself in order to get it open. I am just worried about him in his older age and getting hurt!
We will actually be moving Sioux back to the other side, in the addition. The two old Sioux tables will be used for another Apache and Shawnee Cabin to eat. The 4 added tables on the right side will be: 2 for Sioux and 1 for a new Choctaw cabin, and 1 for a new Arapaho cabin.
And yes, Ron is of course doing all of this by hand.
I would very much like it if Ron sat down with a pack of colored pencils and colored in the the drawing so we don’t have to use our imaginations as much on what it will look like.
I’ll get Ron on that this afternoon… great idea Stewart.
