Touring Colorado Springs, CO

This past week, Ron, Phil and Sharon attended the Christian Camp and Conference Association’s National Conference in Colorado Springs, CO.  We had the opportunity to attend seminars/sessions and also worship with other camping people.  It was a fun and restful time!  We thought it would be a good idea to give you an idea of what we got to do while we were out there.  Take a look!

4 Reasons our Staff are the Best

So, we spend a lot of time making sure that we only hire the very best staff around. Every summer, there are hundreds of applicants that don’t get the chance to serve with us. These men and women are very well trained and equipped to lead campers each summer. Trevor is our November Winner of the FREE CANTEEN!

Guinness World Record Speed Stacking Results

As some of you may have read, Ridgecrest Summer Camps was involved in breaking the Guinness World Record for “Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations in One Day” this past Thursday, Nov. 12.  Last we saw, there were over 270,000 people signed up to participate.  Well as we were stacking here in the office, we decided to have a competition of our own.  For all of you thinking about what skills to take this summer, you should think about Speed Stacking (aka cup stacking).  Try to beat our times!

We do get work done here in the office as opposed to what some of you may think.  We hope you enjoy the entertainment we try to provide for you!

Free Canteen! … at home??

Hey folks! We hope that you are doing well back home. Thanksgiving will be here before you know it and we want to give you one more thing you can be thankful for… Starting now, Camp Ridgecrest is going to give away a FREE CANTEEN every month until camp starts! How can you win this Free Canteen you ask? Well, we will draw a random name from those who have commented on our blog each month. If your name is drawn, then we will contact you, get your Canteen order, and then mail it to your doorstep. That’s correct, we will mail your canteen home! There’s nothing quite like a Free Canteen in the middle of the winter!

2009 WSSA Stack UP!

Ridgecrest Summer Camps is about to be involved in breaking a Guinness World Record!  We are joining the WSSA Stack Up! team to beat the world record of “Most People Sport Stacking at Multiple Locations in One Day.”  The event is being held this Thursday, Nov. 12.  Ron has been pushing us hard to train and get ready for the event.  Check it out!

Have You Ever Been Stuck Behind Spilman?

Have you ever gotten your car stuck behind Spilman Lodge? To help improve traction and prevent further problems we have made some improvements to the parking are behind Spilman. We now have an outlined parking lot with additional gravel in place. This will help us accommodate more parking in this area and simply make it look more inviting! Paired with the additional trees added to hide the camp vehicles and dumpsters, this upgraded parking area will be a nice addition.

A special thanks to the Alumni who made a weekend out of this project! We had about 30 current and former campers and staff in for the weekend. We worked hard, but hung out even more. Lots of good meals in Black Mountain, some camping on the Upper Green, and even a good old campfire on the Middle Green. We missed you if you weren’t here. It was a good time.

The Alumni also helped us with a few other projects including: putting the canoes away for the winter, boarding up the side of Spilman to keep the rain out of the Dining Hall, painting the doors on the Activities Building, cleaning the gutters on the canteen, and more… We appreciate all your help! Camp couldn’t do it without you!!
