Your 2012 Ridgecrest Tribal Leaders

Posted by anthologycreative

Each year there is much anticipation as to which staffers will be returning. But among those, one of the things campers and staffers get most excited about is finding out who their Tribal Leaders will be for this coming summer. Well, we are proud to present them to you!

My name is Vince Sapp or Chief Tossing Tiger. This is my third year here at Camp Ridgecrest for Boys and I am currently studying history at the University of Georgia. My Favorite thing about camp is that it is one of the only places that boys are free to be boys and where adventure is applauded. This summer I am most looking forward to the Apache experiencing the Blob for the first time.

Eli White aka Selfless Partridge here.  I am a senior this year at Virginia Tech where I study mechanical engineering, and have had the pleasure of being around Camp Ridgecrest for 2 summers.  My favorite thing about camp is getting to share life with so many awesome guys and learn more about Christ together.  And of course some kickin’ Shawnee chants!

Hey there! My name is Nathan Burkett. This will be my 3rd year at Camp Ridgecrest. I am currently studying communication at Mississippi State University. I am excited about getting back to camp for mudpit day with the Choctaw tribe. But my favorite thing about camp is getting to build real friendships with the campers to help show them what it means to be a true man of God.

What’s up? I’m Cade Sherman. This will be my 3rd year at Camp Ridgecrest, and I am studying civil engineering at Mississippi State University. My favorite thing about camp is showing kids that you can have the best time of your life while chasing after the Lord. I’m also pumped about midnight skating with my fellow Araps.

Hey there friends! It’s EP Keller. This will be my 6th summer at camp, and I am a graduate of Clemson University. My favorite thing about camp has been both seeing campers come back every summer having grown more into the man they are going to be and Nibblenook.

As we have continued to update you all throughout the process, today we are proud to present the final product and show you the differences. You will notice many differences on the hill. A few of those differences include: big porches, a green trim on Choctaw cabins, green roofing, Cabin 12 facing a new direction, new green doors, and much more! Choctaw Cabins Get New Floors and Walls

Posted by anthologycreative

The last time we updated everyone on the progress taking place on Choctaw Hill, the exterior of the cabins was nearing completion. From the outside, it seemed the job was pretty much done. But there still much work that needed to be done. Today, we can announce the the cabins are about 99% done. They do not have the furniture moved back in, but they have received a face-lift on the inside. Each of the cabins are now equipped with brand new walls, ceilings, and floors. You will also be able to note the new doors that cabins have received. Another upgrade you will see are the wooden window shutters that can cover screen windows in the winter to protect the cabins from winter weather. In the pictures below, you will see all of these new additions as well as a preview of the new windows to the old walls that show some of the old camper and staff names. In one picture, you will see names of camp friends from decades ago, including Chris Shirley, as well as his son Andrew. Enjoy!

Cabins turn yellow on Choctaw Hill…

Posted by anthologycreative

What? Really? Yellow cabins? Well yes and no. Part of the upgrade on Choctaw Hill is that the cabins receive new exterior walls. And while they are yellow for the time being (as you will see in pictures), they will soon be painted Brown to match the other cabins on the hill. So don’t worry! Things are going very smoothly up on the hill and the work will be completed before you know it. Today, we want to update you on cabins 13-16, since they have received the most change since the last blog post. You will also notice the nice new screen windows that will help the air circulation and keep the cabins cooler.

The Latest from Choctaw Hill’s Upgrade

Posted by anthologycreative

Even as temperatures continue drop around camp, construction continues on Choctaw Hill as workers are putting in long hours to improve the cabins. Cabins 10-16 are all being renovated and are getting a nice face-lift. The biggest thing you will notice is the nice, new, covered porches that each of the cabins have received. They are at different stages right now, but rather than trying to explain to you all of the changes, we thought it would be best to give you a quick snapshot of each of the cabins so that you can see the progress for yourself. Below you can see a picture of each cabin, in order from 10-16.
